All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Muriel Sonne cgsonne@comcast.net May 10, 2011, 5:21 pm Source: Will Book 2, P. 312; Fhlmf#863624 Written: October 7, 1803 Recorded: June 21, 1811 Washington County Willbook 2, p. 312 Will of William Gregg deceased In the name of God Amen; I William Gregg considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, and being of sound and perfect mind & memory blessed be almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First I give and bequeath unto my three eldest son John Gregg Henry Gregg and William Gregg the sum of five shillings sterling a piece I also give and bequeath to my two daughters Christ’n Jackman and Margaret Crow the sum of five shillings sterling a piece which said several legacies or sums of money I will and order shall be paid to the said respective legatees within six months after my decease. I further give and devise to my youngest son Robt Gregg his heirs and assigns all my free hold estate situated lying and being in Pikerun Township Washington County State of Pennsylvania Together with all my other personal estate, goods and chattels of what kind and nature, soever, do give and to hold to him the said Robert Gregg his heirs and assigns forever, only excepting my bed and bedding. I hereby appoint the sd Robt Gregg sole Executor of this my last will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 7th day of October 1803. Signed Sealed publ’d and _________William his X mark Gregg (seal) Declared by the above Wm Gregg to be his last will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the Testator William Jackman Robt Quail Washington County ss Be it remembered that on the thirteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven, before me Isaac Kerr, Register for the probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration, in and for the said County, came William Jackman, a subscribing Witness to the within last Will and Testament of William Gregg, late of the County aforesaid, deceased, who, being duly sworn as the law directs, doth depose and say, that he heard the Testator acknowledge the within to be his last Will and Testament, That at the time of his so doing, he was, to the best of this deponants’ apprehension, of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, and that he subscribed his name as a witness to this will, in the presence and at the request of the Testator, William Jackman Sworn to and subscribed before me, Isaac Kerr Register Washington County ss Be it remembered that on the twenty first day of June, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and eleven, before me, Isaac Kerr, Register for the probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration, in and for said County, came, Robert Quaile, the other subscribing Witness to the within last Will and Testament of William Gregg, late of the county aforesaid, deceased, who being duly affirmed, doth say, that he saw the within named Testator execute this will and did hear him acknowledge the same to be his last Will and Testament, That at the time of his so doing he was to the best of this deponants’ apprehension, of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding. And that he subscribed his name as a witness to this will in the presence and at the request of the Testator, and in the presence of the absent witness whom he also sign his name as such.
