Will book 6, p. 32 In the name of God Amen, I John Gregg of the Township of Pike Run & County of Washington being sick & weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling to mind the mutability of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say principally & first of all I recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it, & my body I recommend to the earth to be buryed in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased go to bless me with in this life I give and devise & dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Ann, the plantation whereon I now live during her life & widowhood which shall first terminate allso I will and bequeath to my said wife all my household and kitchen furniture and all the farming utensils and all my horses cows sheep and hogs I will that all my legal debts be paid and that my wife out of the above bequest pay the same and that she pay unto my following named children the sum of two dollars. To wit James Ellender Henry Andrew Mary Ann Sarah John & Elizabeth , which said sum of two dollars I will to each of them and further it is my will that at the decease or marriage of my wife I will all this my plantation to my son John forever he paying to my daughter Ann the sum of one hundred dollars and to my daughter Ellender the sum of twenty five dollars and to my daughter Sarah the sum of twenty five dollars and to my daughter Elizabeth the sum of twenty five dollars to be paid to them at the expiration of two years after the deceased of my wife and lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my wife Ann Gregg Executrix of this my last will and testament I hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this twelfth day of April A.D. 1835. Morrison Register for the probate of wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for said County, came Juliann Shouse and Elizabeth Ailes, two of the subscribing witnesses to the forgoing last will and Testament of John Gregg dec’d who being duly sworn as the law directs depose and say that they were personally present and did hear the testator therein named acknowledge this will, and did hear him publish pronounce and declare the same as and for his last will and Testament, that at the time of his so doing he was of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge observation and belief.
