All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Muriel Sonne cgsonne@yahool.com June 5, 2012, 6:55 pm Source: Fhl#863527 Written: December 1, 1812 Recorded: January 1, 1813 Will Book 2, p. 346 Will of John Gregg dec’d In the Name of God Amen I John Gregg of Pikerun Township in the county of Washington Penn being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks to Almighty God for the same do make and constitute this my last will and Testament and desire it may be received by all as such I desire my body to be decently entered in the earth at the discretion of my executors hereinafter named I desire all my just lawful debts be paid out of my real and personal estate or the profits arising there from annually until such are paid or satisfaction made to my respective creditors and if in case such discharges or compromises cannot be done, then I desire my executors to put to sale the whole of the premises in order to satisfie such legal demands and whatsoever overpluss(?) if any I do Bequeath the same to my two brothers namely William and Henry Gregg and my eldest sister Ann Gregg to be equally divided amongst this my two brothers and sister only I desire they may give my little niece Elenor Gregg some token in remembrance of me and I do nominate and appoint Thos Hopkins and my brother William my sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament revoking all other Wills my me made. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the 1st day of December in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred & twelve. 1812 In the presence of Barnet Johnson and Margaret Springer, John Gregg Jr. John Gregg Washington County Ss Be it remembered the on the first day of January in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen, before me, Isaac Kerr Register for the probate of wills and granting of Letters of Administration in and for said County came Barnet Johnson and John Gregg Jr. two of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing last will and testament of John Gregg, late of the county aforesaid, deceased, who, being duly sworn as the law directs, do depose and say that they were personally present, and did see the testator therein named sign this will, and did hear him publish and pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and testament, That at the time of his doing so he was to the best of their apprehensions, of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding; and that they respectively subscribed their names as witnesses to this will, in the presence, and at the request of the testator, and in the presence of each other and Margaret Springer, the absent witness, when they saw her sign ? thereto as such.
