Brown buwbrown@comcast.net September 6, 2009, 8:47 am Hamilton, March 23, 1848 Dear Uncle, My father requested me to write to you and let you know we are all well and enjoying tolerable good health. The family are all married, except myself. Gilbert was married last March and lives about 15 miles from where I do, Gustavus was married the third of last June, he lives on my place; father lives first with one, and then with another just as a notion takes him. My mother does about the same. Lucy continues to reside in Carbondale. Benjamin & Dan lives in the western part of this state, we do not hear from them oftener than once in five years, they seldom write home. Conrad lives near where I do. That compleats a history of the whole family. I almost forget to mention that Gustavus & Gilbert have each a son to perpetuate the name of Webster. Times are hard in these parts. Money is scarce although produce is high and cattle also, the country is improving quite fast and settling fast by natural population. I have been teaching school for some time, but I do not like the business. Cousin John Watrous' family are well, his second son is a preacher of the gospel, he belongs to the methodist. My father want you or someone to write immediately back, now don't neglect it from day to day and from week to week but do it right off and have it off your hands. Write all the deaths and marriages of our acquaintance. We all unite in sending our Love, to you and all our friends. Believe me your friend. (signed) E.H. Webster To: S.M.
