The church was built in the year 1844, which year is inscribed in a stone above the front entrance door. The land was owned by one of the members of the Church, Mr. J. Nez, which was surrounded by lands owned by R. Erwin, Colonel Isreal Painter, J. Evans, Mrs Baeson, H. Wilson, J.E. Catheart, D. & M. Lynn, M. Miller, G.W. Wagoner, C. Trout, D. Rugh, W. Hilles, P. Gongewar, S. Hissem, et.al. To the rear of the church in the church-yard is erected an old monument, the inscription of which is cited on page 250 of this volume. It is the supposition that Jonathan Gunnell, fell at this spot, and was buried there after the War of the Revolution. Regular Sunday services are being held in the Church in the year 1946, a regular pastor being employed by the congregation. Mr. Geary Kamerer, New Stanton, Pa., is Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Mr. W.A. Dorsey, New Stanton, Pa., R.D., is a Member of the Board. Little Sewickley Baptist Church Cemetery This Cemetery is in bad condition in October, 1946, when the tombstone inscriptions were copied by Members of Braddock Trail Chapter, N.S.D.A.R., Mount Pleasant, Penna. Many very fine expensive monuments, in excellent condition, with inscriptions very legible, grace the graves of many who are sleeping beneath them, yet the grounds are very much neglected. The cemetery is located in a beautiful spot on the opposite side of the road from the Church, almost hidden by a forest of beautiful trees, and a part of the cemetery at the entrance is enclosed with an arbrivaeti hedge. Several graves and markers are entirely outside the boundary lines of the Cemetery. Regular Baptist Church. Old stone building, with date above door, outside. A.D. 1844., Sewickley Creek Church.
