Inscriptions copied, November 19, 1946 This private Cemetery is but a few feet of ground enclosed with a paling fence, and is but a few yards from route #981 leading from Mount Pleasant to Pleasant Unity. It is situated on the original farm owned by Abraham Drachsel (Truxal, Troxal). The following Biographical sketch of this man and his descendents (in part), compiled and written by Rev Isaiah P Truxal, in the year 1914, follows: - "Abraham Drachsel was born November 1st, 1751. He was of German parentage, a son of Abraham Drachsel who arrived in Philadelphia, September 15th, 1749, on the ship Phoenix. This ship carried passengers from the city of Zweibrucken, from Nassau, a province of Prussia, from the Kingdom of Wirtemberg, and from the Palatinate, an independent state of Germany. Quotations from the old German Bible which belonged to Abraham Drachsel, the Preacher: - (1) "The bible belongs to me, Abraham Drachel, and cost me one pound and six shillings and six cents". (2) "This Bible belongs to me Abraham Truxal, and it is dear to me. He who steals it from me is a thief." (3) "Date the 1st of November 1751. Abraham Drachel was born into this world." (4) "Date the 8th of October, 1772. Was born to me a son and he is called Abraham". (5) "Date the 26th of November, 1773. Was born to me a daughter between eight and nine o'clock and she is called Anna". (6) "Date the 21st of September, 1775. Was born to me a son between seven and eight o'clock and he is called John". (7) Date the 20th of January, 1778. Was born to me a daughter at eight o'clock in the evening, Frances Druchael - Frances Brechbill" "Abraham Draksel was born in Lebanon County, Penna., Nov 1, 1751. He was brought up in Amish, or Omish, Society (or Church). He died in the year 1825, in Westmoreland County, Penna., and is buried on his farm". "His large family bible was printed in 1743, and is in the possession of his great-great- grandaughter, Nelle Breckbill Ramsay (Mrs John A Ramsay), Leckrone, Fayette County, Penna, (1914). Though it is 171-years old, it is in excellent condition. His license to preach is in the possession of the Rev Isaiah P Truxal, 120 Camp Avenue, Braddock, Pennsylvania. The license is dated May 23d, 1811. Copied November 19, 1946, by Mrs Clarence Hartman Vance, R.D. Abraham Draschsel, preacher of the gospel for forty-three years in the Church of the United Brethren in Christ. Member of the first annual conference, 1789, and of the first general conference, 1815. He was the first United Brethren preacher to locate West of the Allegheny Mountains, having come in 1804. This monument was erected by the descendents in 1905. "God called him by his grace to reveal his Son in Him that he might preach him."
