Moorhead, Justice of the Peace of Westmoreland County, by Edward McGovern, father of Edward McGovern Jr., a minor born April 10, 1887. The boy runs away from home and associates with bad & vicious company and is guilty of purloining money and other things. Disobedient and willful. My address: Derry Station, Westmoreland Co., Pa. Catherine McGovern desposes: I am the grandparent of said Edward McGovern Jr. and have had the care of him for about 2 years ever since his mother died. Running away from home, stealing his way on freight cars, etc. Address: Derry Station. Irene Roberts deposes that she has known the said infant for at least five years; he has become vicious and incorrigible, running away from home, etc. Address: Derry Station. Additional Comments: Notes made upon the boy's arrival at the Pennsylvania Reform School at Morganza: Edward McGovern Jr., No. 5668, Division B. Mother dead. Father Edward McGovern a brakeman living at Derry, Westmoreland Co., Pa. Sent here for running away from home, disobedience. Description: Height: 4'5 1/2"; weight 78 pounds. Brown hair, blue eyes, medium complexion, pug nose, scar from cut on back of head, left side. Age: 13 on Apr. 10, 1899; received Mar. 24, 1899. Born Penna. of American parentage. Catholic. Parents not intemperate, do not own property. 1 younger brother, 1 younger sister. Can read & write. Swears, lies, steals. Does not use tobacco, is not intemperate. Has not been arrested before.
