Howell of Washington Township, father of Harvey Howell, a minor. Vicious, uncontrollable. Vagrancy, profanity. Abuses horses. Untruthful. Mrs. Jennie Brown deposes that she knows Harvey Brown, residence Washington Twp., P.O. Oakland Roads. Vicious conduct, threatening language. Enticed my son, aged 13, to go away with him and take my horse and saddle. But I detected it after my son had his clothes bundled up to go. I prevailed on him and peace was restored by my persuasion. J.I. Knepshield deposes that at Sabbath School at Oakland Crossroads Harvey was threatening, vicious, profane. Additional Comments: Notes made upon the boy's arrival at the Pennsylvania Reform School at Morganza: Harvey Howell, No. 5686, Division E. Parents living about one mile from Merwin, Westmoreland Co., Pa. Father James Howell a farmer. Sent here for disobedience. Could not get along with his father who did not treat him right. Description: Height 5'3"; weight 106 pounds. Brown hair and eyes, medium complexion, aquiline nose, sharp featured. Scar on upper left eyelid. Age: 19 on Apr. 4, 1899; received May 18, 1899. Born Penna. of American parentage. Methodist. Parents not intemperate, do not own property. 2 younger brothers, 3 younger sisters. Can read & write. Swears, lies, uses tobacco.
