Brown buwbrown@concast.net July 21, 2008, 7:22 am Complaint made before Martin N. Stauffer, Justice of the Peace in Westmoreland County, by Annie E. White of the Township of Mount Pleasant, the mother of Richard Zerefuss, who by reason of his vicious conduct has rendered his control beyond the power of said complaintant. Annie E. White deposes that Richard will be 12 years of age on May 22, 1876. He runs away from home, lays out at night so that I do not know for five days at a time where he is. He does all manner of mischief at home and abroad; seldom tells the truth. When I have reproved him for his bad conduct he has promised me to do better but always fails. When I send him to day school, to Church or Sunday School, he will most of the time run away and not attend. He is beyond the control of (deponent) or his stepfather. He will go to shops & stores and contract debts etc. without my knowledge. Isaac S. White Sr. of Mount Pleasant Towmship deposes that the boy is vicious and uncontrolable by his mother and stepfather. he runs away from them and lays out at night, is very untruthful and not to be trusted to do anything. (signed by his mark) Thomas B. May of Mount Pleasant Twp. deposed the same. Isaac S. White of Mount Pleasant, the boy's stepfather, has been married to the boy's mother about 6 years. We cannot control him. He has gone to shops & destroys the machinery, lays out at night, etc. Runs off from home so that we do not know where he is for five or six days.
