Facts concerning students show rapid advancement. Seventy students, the largest number in the 21 years of its history, will be graduated from the New Kensington High school, this week. Fifteen of the students are non-residents, making the resident student number 55. Of the 28 boys in the class, 50 percent, or 14, are from the Trade school, while the Commercial school enrollment has 23, 19 girls and four boys, and 33 students are Academic. More than 50 percent of the students graduating are from special schools. In the class there are three pupils of Italian parentage, three of Polish, four of Jewish and one colored girl." First honor students must have an average of 90 percent and not less than 16 credits; second honor students must have an average of 85 percent and at least 16 credits; the special honor students must have an average of over 85 percent and more than 20 credits. Thirty-four per cent of the class or 24 members comprise the first honor group; 50 percent or 35 of the class comprise the second group, and 27 per cent or 19 comprise the special honor group. This is an exceptional record, as one-half or 50 percent of the class, has attained and average of 85 percent or abvove for the entire four years, with at least 18 credits; 34 percent has attained an average of 90 percent or above 18 credits; 27 percent of the class an average of over 85 percent with more than 20 credits; 16 academic credits being required for graduation. The first honor student Miss Eva Seybold, will be given a scholarship for the University of Pittsburgh and the Van Rensselaer medal will be presented to Merrill Rorabaugh for proficiency in science and mathematics.
