We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ ____________________________________________________ Release Alexander CAMPBELL & al To James QUINN Know all men by these presents that we Alexander CAMPBELL and Sufirah his wife, and James CAMPBELL and Jane his wife and Andrew CAMPBELL all of Rockland township in the County of Venango and Miss Jean CAMPBELL of Derry township in the County of Westmoreland. The said Alexander CAMPBELL, James CAMPBELL, Andrew CAMPBELL & Miss Jean CAMPBELL being four of the children of Joseph CAMPBELL late of the said Township of Rockland in the County of Venango deceased who intermarried with Ann LEMON now deceased one of the daughters of Alexander LEMON late of Derry township in the county of Westmoreland aforesaid deceased. And the said Ann CAMPBELL being our Mother and having two other children not herein before mentioned, who are joint heirs with us to our Mother's estate and our said Mother the said Ann CAMPBELL deceased being the rightfull owner of one eight part of the real estate of her Father the said Alexander LEMON deceased, possessed by him in his lifetime and at the time of his death, situate in Derry Township & County of Westmoreland aforesaid and we the before named Alexander CAMPBELL, James CAMPBELL, Andrew CAMPBELL and Miss Jean CAMPBELL being each the owner of one sixth undivided part to the estate of our said Mother in that her share and interest in and to the estate of her Father the aforesaid Alexander LEMON deceased. Now Know Ye, That we the aforesaid Alexander CAMPBELL and Sufirah his wife, James CAMPBELL & Jane his wife, Andrew CAMPBELL & Miss Jean CAMPBELL aforesaid do hereafter set forth and acknowledge that we have heretofore & on the present date each had & received of and from our friend James QUINN who is now residing on the aforesaid real estate of the said Alexander LEMON situate in the said Township of Derry the sum of twenty five Dollars each money of the United States in full satisfaction and payment each for our undivided interest in and to the said estate of the said Alexander LEMON dec'd the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged & the said James QUINN his heirs executors and Administrators thereof acquitted and forever discharge. We the said and by these presents do fully and absolutely grant, remise, release and forever quit claim unto the said James QUEEN and to his heirs and assigns, all our right, title interest, property claim and demand whatsoever in law, equity or otherwise howsoever of in to that certain tract of land aforesaid owned by the aforesaid in Derry township so that neither we our heirs executors, administrators, respectively nor any other for us or thou shall have any right claim or demand of in or to the said premises hereby granted but thereof and therefrom shall be utterly debarred by these presents. And further we the aforesaid Alexander CAMPBELL, Andrew CAMPBELL & Miss Jean CAMPBELL doth each for ourselves respectively promise and agree to and with the said James QUEEN that we the said James QUEEN make and execute another writing or assurance needful in law for the more full and perfect transfer of our right to said described premises unto him the said James QUEEN & to his heirs and assigns. Received on the day of the date of the forgoing release of and from the therein named James QUIN, the sum of one hundred each having received the sum of twenty five Dollars respectively. Alex. Personally appeared before me one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the County of Venango Alexander CAMPBELL and Sophia his wife and in due form acknowledged the within written Indenture to be their act and deed and desired the same might be recorded as such. And the said Sophia being of full age and separate and apart from her said husband and by me thereon by me first made known unto him did thereupon declare and say that she the said did voluntarily and of her own free will and accord sign seal and as her act and deed deliver the within written Indenture without any coercion or compulsion of her said husband. SS. the 26th day of October A.D. 1840 Before the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace in and for said County aforesaid Personally came the within named Jane CAMPBELL and in due form of law acknowledged the within written Indenture to her act and deed and desired the same might be recorded as such. SS. the 27th day of October A.D. 1840 Before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid Personally came the within named Andrew CAMPBELL and in due form of law acknowledged the within written Indenture to be his act and deed and desired the same might be recorded as such. Witness my hand and seal the day & year first above written. Joshua DAVIS, Esquire Esquire Venango County. SS. Personally appeared before me one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid James CAMPBELL and Jane CAMPBELL and Jane his wife and in due form of law acknowledged the within written Indenture to be their act and deed and desired the same might be recorded as such. And the said Jane being of full age and separate and apart from her said husband and by me thereon privately examined and the full contents of the within written Indenture by me first made known unto her, did thereupon declare and say that she did voluntarily and of her own free will and accord, sign, seal and as her act and deed Deliver the same Indenture without any coretion [sic] or compultion of her said husband.
