To Alexander LEMMON This Indenture made the twelfth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety between George CLARK Esqr. & Margrett his wife of Greencastle in Franklin County State of Pennsylvania of the one part and Alexander LEMMON of Montgomery township County aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth, That the said George CLARK, Esqr, became seized and possessed of a tract of Land in Derry township, Westmoreland County called Clark's Lookout, for which he obtained a patent for four hundred and twenty eight acres & three eights bearing date the twenty sixth day of December 1787. Know ye, that the said George CLARK Esqr, and Margrett his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred & twenty pounds current money or the value thereof, to them in hand paid by Alexander LEMMON aforesaid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said George CLARK Esqr & Margrett his wife. Have granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell, release & confirm unto the said Alexander LEMMON his heirs and assigns, a certain part and parcel of the aforesaid Tract of Land. Begining [sic] at a hickory, on the Bank of Loyalhanna Creek, thence by Robert RALSTON's claim North, forty degrees East, fifty six perches to a post thence North, eighty nine degrees East fifty perches to a chestnut oak, then by Fulton's claim North three degrees West, one hundred and six perches to a post, thence South eighty degrees West one hundred and eighty nine perches to a WhiteÉthence North thirty three degrees West, fifty one perches to a post, thence South forty five degrees West, one hundred & ninety six perches to a chestnut oak, thence South four degrees East sixty É perches to the Loyalhanna Creek, thence up the same by the several courses thereof three hundred and twenty eight perches to the Place of Begining [sic]. Containing three hundred and eight acres Together with all and singular the buildings and improvements, ways, woods, underwoods, waters, watercourses, rights, liberties, hereditaments & appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining: and all estate, right, title, interest, property claim or demand whatsoever of them, the said George CLARK Esqr and Margrett his wife unto the same or any part thereof. To have and to hold the said bargained tract of three hundred and eight acres hereby granted or intended so to be with all thereunto belonging unto the said Alexander LEMMON his heirs and assigns and to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Alexander LEMMON his heirs and assigns forever. And the said George CLARK, Esqr & Margrett his wife doth for themselves their heirs, executors & administrators hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Alexander LEMMON his heirs and assigns that they the said George CLARK Esqr & Margrett his wife, their heirs executors and administrators, the above granted premises unto the said Alexander LEMMON his heirs executors & assigns against them the said George CLARK Esqr & Margrett his wife & their heirs and against all and every other person or persons claiming or to claim by from or under them Shall and will warrant and defraud. In Testimony whereof the said George CLARK Esqr and Margrett his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals this day and year first above written. Be it remembered that on the 12th day of August 1790 the within named George CLARK and Margrett his wife, came before me James MAXWELL Esqr, President of the Court of Common Pleas, for the County of Franklin and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be their act and deed, for the use therein mentioned and desired it might be of record as the same, the contents thereof being first made known to them.
