The Somerset Herald.: (Somerset, Pa.) December 30, 1874
On Wednesday last, Governor Hartranft issued the warrant for the execution of Samuel
Beighley, a murderer, of Westmoreland, who is now lying in jail at Greensburg. The
time fixed for the hanging is January 20, 1875. Beighley was convicted on the 19th
of May last, of the murder of Joseph Kerr, an old shoemaker, and was sentenced to be
on the 28th day of the same month.
