February 3, 1858 At Livermore, a short time since, two boys quarreled, when one named Pierce, threw a stick 16 inches long, at the other, named Quinly, striking him on the temple, inflicting apparently but slight wound. Inflammation ensued, terminating in lockjaw and finally in death.
