(Ebensburg, Pa.) 1867-1938: September 23, 1871 September 1871 On Thursday afternoon last, David Baker, a brakeman on a freight train, was instantly killed in the yard in this city. He was in the act of applying the brake, when the chain parted, and he was precipitated between the cars upon the track. One wheel passed over the upper part of his head, crushing it in a horrible manner. The unfortunate man was a resident of New Florence, a faithful employee, and leaves a family to mourn his untimely end.
