Latrobe Advance January 18, 1888
Although we did not feel the storm of last Thursday night to any great extent at
this point, at our neighboring town of Youngstown, it raged with terrific fury.
The wind was very high and during the progress of the storm, quite a number of
telegraph poles of the United lines were blown or broken down. One of these in
falling, struck the house of James Carnahan, the cross pieces passing through
the roof and striking a bed in which two of his daughters were sleeping.
