Lawrence E. Ament, 68, of Latrobe RD 1 (Unity Township) died Wednesday, Jan. 18,
1995, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born July 10, 1926, in
Ligonier Township, a son of the late Harry C. and Minnie (Lenhart) Ament. He was
a member of Mount Joy Church of the Brethren, United Steelworkers of America,
Local 1537 Retirees Club, and LESCO Employees Federal Credit Union, and attended
Ligonier High School. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the
U. S. Navy. Prior to retirement in January 1992, he was employed as a machinist
for Latrobe Steel Co. for 41 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded
in death by two brothers, Harold and Robert, and on infant daughter, Joyce
Elaine Ament, in 1959. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marjorie V.
Zelmore Ament; two sons, Larry Eugene, at home, and Richard Alan of Greensburg;
a daughter, Marla Denise Ament of Ligonier; two brothers, Dean of Pleasant Unity
and Glenn of Greensburg; two sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Hazel) Laughner of Ligonier
and Ida Mae Springer of Latrobe, and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends
will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday
in Eugene G. Saloom Funeral Home Inc., 730 W. Main St., Mount Pleasant. Funeral
service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert
L. Bloom officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Joy Cemetery with military
rites.
