The Ligonier Echo (Ligonier, Pennsylvania)6 August 1899   
David Ankney, an old and respected citizen of Ligonier, died
Thursday, Aug. 31, 1899, after a lingering sickness of eight
months, aged 83 years lacking 3 days. Funeral services held
at his late home on Main Street, Saturday, conducted by Rev.
H. L. McMurray. Interment in Valley cemetery.
