The Ligonier Echo (Ligonier, Pennsylvania) 20 August 1919   
Dean Ankney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ankney, of Boswell,
Somerset county, died at the Latrobe Hospital, Tuesday
evening, August 19, at 5 o'clock, from fracture of the skull
received in automobile accident on Laurel Mountain last
Sunday when a big car belonging to a Pittsburg man ran into
Mr. Ankney's car which was standing at side of the Lincoln
Highway and Mr. Ankney was badly but not seriously hurt and
Master Dean fatally injured. It is said the Pittsburg
chauffeur was driving the car at high rate of speed when the
accident occurred. Dean Ankney was a grandson of Mr. and
Mrs. J. M. Shaffer of Ligonier township, and was aged three
years past. The funeral services will be held tomorrow,
Thursday, at the residence of J. M. Shaffer at 2 o'clock pm,
conducted by Rev. J. T. Farnsworth, with interment in
Pleasant Grove cemetery.
