Suffering from severe lacerations of the head and pains in the region of his chest, he was taken to the Latrobe Hospital in the Sibel ambulance. The accident occurred near the Howard McCrady farm along Route 711, three and one-half miles north of Ligonier, when a second truck, traveling the same direction attempted to pass the one driven by Ankney, while descending a hill. The impact caused Ankney to lose control of the truck which left the road and, rolling completely over, smashed through a wire fence and came to a stop in a field, standing on all four wheels again. The entire load of pit posts was thrown out and was scattered for a distance of 40 feet. Ankney was also thrown out. The other truck did not upset and the driver , Homer Ridell of Robinson, Pa., was uninjured. Ridell's truck was loaded with railroad ties. Mr. Ankney is employed by D. R. Ankney, also of Rector.
