Aukerman, 94, of 605 Hickory Grade Road, Bridgeville, (formerly of Lycippus) died Wednesday, March 28, 1990, in Meadows Crest Nursing Home, Bethel Park. She was born Nov. 5, 1895, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late William Edward and Nancy Smith Blanset. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and was the church and Sunday School pianist for 25 years. She established the church's Daily Vacation Bible School for children and was secretary of the board of trustees. She was graduated in 1920 from what is now known as Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Pittsburgh. In 1989, she received the IUP Pioneer Award. She taught for 25 years in schools in Lloydsville, Trauger, Baggaley and Pleasant Unity. She was a member of the Westmoreland County Retired Teachers Association and the NRTA. She also was a member of the Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War Ruth F. Barnhart Tent 56. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Trauger F. Aukerman, in 1968; two sisters, Josephine Statler and Julia Fry, and a brother, Glenn Blanset. She is survived by two brothers, Paul of Derry and Charles L. Blanset of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Pauline Carroll of Portland, Ore., and a niece, Mrs. George (Joann Marie) Williams of Bridgeville, with whom she made her home for 20 years. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in James P. Gaut Funeral Home Inc., Pleasant Unity. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Calvary United Methodist Church, Lycippus, with the Revs. Lota C. Jones and Homer J. Farabaugh officiating.
