Died June 19th, in Emory Hospital, Washington, D. C. of wounds received near Gaines'
Hill, Va., James Sloan Baird, son of James Baird, of Derry Twp., Westmoreland
County, Pa., in the 29th year of his age… He was more than a patriot: he was a
Christian, a true soldier of the Cross. He had been for more than six years a
consistent member of the Presbyterian church in Blairsville, and died in the blessed
hope of glorious immortality.
