Born Oct. 11, 1905, in Mammoth, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Russell Downs, She was a member of Paul's Lutheran Church Trauger, the Eastern Star and the Ladies' Auxiliary of Kendron Commandry No. 18. She was also active in the Knights Templar and the White Shrine. A member of the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers' Association, she taught school in Unity Twp. for 24 years. She is survived by her husband, Reuben M. Bash; three children, John T. at home, Mary Lou of New York and Mrs. Walter (Phyllis) Johnson; one sister, Mrs. Jean Ruse of Canonsburg, and one brother, Thomas Downs of Portland, Ore. Friends are being received at the James P. Gaut Funeral Home, Pleasant Unity, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles H. Frederickson officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Trauger.
