Latrobe Bulletin (Latrobe, Pennsylvania) 6 Mar 1971
Edward L. Bates Jr., 61, Bradenville, died in Latrobe Area Hospital Thursday
evening. He was born in Cooperstown, May 7, 1909, and was the son of the late Edward
L. and Ella McCurdy Bates. He was a member of the L O O M 95, Latrobe.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Goldie Shepherd Bates and the following children:
Allen W., Edwin E., Eloise, all at home; a step-daughter, Alice M. Shepherd, North
East, Pa.; brothers George, Latrobe, RD 5;  Wilbert, Latrobe; Richard, Youngstown;
sister, Mrs. Zeke (Ida) Ashbaugh, Latrobe RD 5. Funeral services will be held in the
chapel of the funeral home at 1 pm Monday with the Rev. John L Ringer, DD,
officiating. Interment will be private.
