Edward L. Bates Jr., 81, Bradenville, died in Latrobe Area Hospital Thursday
evening. He was born in Cooperstown, May 7, 1909 and was the son of the late
Edward L. and Ella McCurdy Bates. He was a member of the L.O.O.M. 95, Latrobe.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Goldie Shepherd Bates and the following
children: Allen W., Edwin E., Eloise, all at home; step-daughter, Alice M.
Shepherd, North East. Pa.; brothers George, Latrobe R.D. 5; Wilbert, Latrobe;
Richard, Youngstown; sister Mrs. Zeke (Ida) Ashbaugh, Latrobe R.D. 5. The family
will receive friends at the Richard W. Dell Home for Funerals from- 3 to 5 and 7
to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 1
p.m. Monday with the Rev. John L. Ringer. D.D. officiating. Interment will be
private.
