Beatty, 22, son of Mrs. And Mrs. Roscoe Beatty, of 130 Sumner Avenue, Vandergrift. His wife is the former Elsie Fryer, of Leechburg. According to a telegram received by his wife from Col. Harold Gunn, of Albuquerque, Beatty was killed after midnight Saturday morning. No details were given nor were any available on how the accident occurred. Born in Vandergrift August 22, 1926, young Beatty and his parents moved to Mansfield, O., when he was but two years old. He attended high school there. Moves to Vandergrift - The Beattys moved back to Vandergrift in 1944 and Harry worked for a short time in United Engineering and Foundry Co., where his father is still employed. He enlisted in the army while still in Mansfield but was not called into active duty until they had moved to Vandergrift. He took several training courses in Seattle, Washington, on B-29 mechanics. When he was killed, he was attached to the 20030th Supply and Maintenance Squadron in Kirkland Field. He was to have been discharged April 2. He had been home just a month ago when he brought his wife home to stay until their unborn baby arrived sometime next month. Leaves Four Sisters - He was a member of First Methodist Church of Vandergrift. Besides his wife and parents, he leaves four sisters: Mrs. Cora Davis, of Vandergrift; Gladys and Mildred, both at home; and a brother Roscoe, Jr., also at home. His grandparents are Mr. And Mrs. S. M. Beatty, of Vandergrift; and Mr. And Mrs. Harry Dillinger, of Homer City. The body will be returned to Dunmire Funeral Home, Vandergrift. Funeral services will be announced later. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Vandergrift Man's Death "Accidental" - A coroner's jury in Albuquerque, N.M. has determined the death of a Vandergrift soldier as "death by fracture in an automobile accident". The victim is Harry S. Beatty, of 130 Sumner Avenue, Vandergrift, who was killed early Saturday morning in Albuquerque. The accident occurred at the intersection of Miles and Arno Roads in the southeastern part of the city. Miles Road is the main highway to Kirkland Air Base, where Beatty was stationed. Captain Dick Allen, Kirkland public information officer, early this afternoon classified the accident as "unavoidable". "The drivers just didn't see each other," he said. The youth was killed in an automobile crash early Saturday at an intersection along Miles road, the highway leading to Kirkland Air Base where he was stationed. Friends will be received in the home of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Roscoe Beatty, of 130 Sumner Avenue, Vandergrift, until 11 Saturday morning when the body will be moved to the Dunmire funeral home, 244 Franklin Avenue. Military services will be held there at 2:30 Saturday afternoon in charge of the Vandergrift post of the American Legion. Rev. Harry J. Headlee will officiate.
