The dead are Albert Palmer, aged 33 years and Mollie Beck, aged 30 years. The case was drink and jealousy. Between 2 and 3 o'clock the neighborhood where the tragedy occurred was aroused by the shrieks and cries of several women. Those who appeared upon the scene witnessed an awful sight. In the rear room of the house in which the tragedy took place lay the bodies of the persons named, the woman with a bullet hole through her heart, and the man, shot in the middle of the chest. Death was instantaneous in each case. Early on Saturday evening Palmer had been seen on the streets of Blairsville very much intoxicated. He had been paying attention to the young woman for a couple of months, although she had a husband living. There were no witnesses in the shooting but it is supposed to have resulted from a quarrel.
