Brindle, 80, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Latrobe and Deland, Fla., died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, in the Masonic Home in Elizabethtown. He was born June 5, 1922, in Unity Township, a son of the late Ralph L. and Florence I. (Heffelfinger) Brindle. Prior to retirement in 1977, Edward was employed as an industrial arts teacher by the Dade County Schools in Florida. He was a World War II veteran, having served as a flight engineer with the U.S. Army Air Forces. Edward was a member of the Glenwood (Fla.) Presbyterian Church, a member and past master of F&AM Loyalhanna Lodge 275 in Latrobe, a member of the Royal Arch Chapter, the Scottish Rite, the Consistory, the Shrine Temple in Miami, Fla., the Deland, Fla., Shrine Club, Thomas B. Anderson American Legion Post 515, Latrobe, VFW Post 734 in Ligonier, the Sons of the American Revolution in Deland, Fla., and a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 907 in Latrobe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Lattanzio and her husband, John "Chink," and Florence Brindle, and his brother, Russell B. Brindle. He is survived by his wife, Helen O'Neil Brindle; a sister-in-law, Marlene Brindle Dunlap, and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 1500 Ligonier St. Latrobe. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Donald W. Graff officiating. Private interment will be in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Home, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Members of F&AM Loyalhanna Lodge 275 will hold a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Military rites will be accorded at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home by the combined funeral detail of American Legion Post 515 and VFW Post 3414.
