Albert Burger, 77, of New Derry died Friday, April 12, 2002, in Latrobe Area
Hospital. He was born Oct. 6, 1924, in Elco, a son of the late Andrew and Anna
(Chermak) Burger. Albert was a member of the Derry Presbyterian Church. He was a
Navy veteran of World War II and formerly had worked for the Seger Mines,
Latrobe Construction, Slate Construction and had retired from R&P Coal Co. of
Indiana as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Derry Ukrainian
Society, a life member of the Derry Rod and Gun Club, the UMWA and the
International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 66. Besides his parents, he
was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Barron. He is survived by his loving
wife of 55 years, Mary Jane (Irwin) Burger; two daughters, Eileen Faye (and her
husband, Samuel B.) Cramer of Sykesville, Md.; Nancy Marie (and her husband,
Edward) Marts of RR 1, Derry; two sons, James A. (and his wife, Jeanne) Burger
and Michael A. Burger, all of Derry; two brothers, Elmer A. (and his wife,
Christine) and Theodore (and his wife, Helen) Burger, all of Derry; 13
grandchildren, Eric and Wade Marts, Wendy Angus, Rachel Cramer, Amanda, Ryan,
Kelsey, Zoey and Zach Burger, Brandi Carnathan. Robin Pachella, and Deven and
Madison Burger; one great-grandson, Nathaniel Angus, and several nieces and
nephews. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and from noon-4 p.m.
and 7-9 p.m. in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Ave., Derry. Funeral
services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday with pastor the Rev. F. Neal Galley
officiating. Interment will follow in Coles Cemetery, Derry.
