Joseph H. Carlson, 78, of Blairsville RD 2, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 1990, at
Latrobe Area Hospital. The son of August William and Alvida Swanson Carlson, he
was born March 27, 1914, at Hillside. Mr. Carlson was a member of the Hopewell
United Methodist Church and had served with the U. S. Army during World War II.
Mr Carlson retired from Latrobe Steel in 1970. Surviving are his wife,
Georgeanna Curnow Carlson, one son, Larry E., Blairsville RD 2; one daughter,
Mrs. James (Beverly) Dunmire, Blairsville RD 2; one granddaughter; two sisters:
Mrs. Ruth Nicely, Indiana; Mrs. Bertha Forsha, Blairsville RD 2, and one
brother, Hilding, Blairsville RD 2. He was preceded in death by his parents.
four brothers: Ernest, Carl, Paul and Wilbur; and two sisters; Anna Carlson and
Elms Pifer. Friends will be received from 7.9 p.m Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Friday at the Ferguson-Helm Funeral Home, Blairsville, where services will be
held at 1:30 p.m Saturday with the Rev. Terry L. Hurlbutt officiating. Interment
will follow in the Blairsville Cemetery.
