The Ligonier Echo Fri, Jul 18, 1941
Martin West Carnes, aged 87 years, five months and 10 days, died following an
illness of four weeks, at the home of his nephew, R. R. Shadron, of 210 Market
street, at 11:30 a. m. last Friday. Mr. Carnes had made his home there since
May, 1939, and formerly lived at Darlington. Surviving are several nieces and
nephews and a foster daughter, Mrs. Marie Harnish, of Three Springs, Pa. Funeral
services were held from the Shadron residence Sunday at 3 p. m., in charge of
the Rev. W. L. Wilkinson, pastor of the Ligonier Methodist church. Interment
followed in the Ligonier Valley cemetery.
