Lemon F. Carns, 85, of Ligonier R. D. 3 died Wednesday at the Edgewood Nursing
Center, Youngstown. He was born in Ligonier Twp. Oct. 17, 1888, a son of the
late Franklin Carns and Bertha Uhlery Carns. He was a member of the Covenant
Presbyterian Church, Ligonier, and the oldest member of the Oak Grove Civic
Club. His wife, Catharine Heiple Carns, preceded him in death and also a son,
Clyde D. Carns. He is survived by seven children, Harry F. Carns of Latrobe R.
D. 4, Louis L. Carns of Latrobe R. D. 1, G. Edgar Carns of Ligonier R. D. 3,
Mrs. Edna Mae Madill of Jeannette, Mrs. Marion E. (Loucetta) Shirey of Santone
Drive, Greensburg, Mrs. Leroy (Lillian) Ayers of Latrobe R. D. 5 and Mrs. Gene
(Gladys) Stillwagon of Fairfax, Va.; three brothers, Lloyd Carns of Ligonier R.
D. 1, Fred Carns of Ligonier R. D. 3 and Earl Carns of Ligonier R. D. 1; two
sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Katharine) Halverson of Somerset and Mrs. Charles
(Lillian) Saylor of New Wilmington, Pa.; 16 grandchildren, and 17 great-
grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Howard S. McCabe Funeral Home,
Ligonier, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. daily. Services will be held at 11 a.m.
Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. John J. McClure officiating.
Interment will follow in Ligonier Valley Cemetery.
