Kenneth E. Carns, 78, of Rector died Saturday, Sept. 16, 1995, at his home. Born
Feb. 15, 1917, in Ligonier Township, he was the son of the late Fred S. Carns
and Sarah Dixon Carns. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as an
estate manager for Log Cabin Farm in Ligonier. He was a veteran of World War II,
having served with the U. S. Army. Very active in Rector United Methodist
Church, he also was a member of the American Legion and the All Seasons Resort
Camping Club. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife,
Myrtle Kennedy Carns, in 1987, and a son, Kenneth E. Carns Jr. Surviving are his
wife, Thelma Clutter "Turk" Carns; four daughters, Mrs. Philip (Janet)
Strawcutter of Punxsutawney, Mrs. Clarence (Tessie) Varweist of Greensburg, Mrs.
Norman (Suzanne) Gray of Ruffsdale RD 1 and Mrs. Edward (Karen) Kuhn Jr. of
Latrobe; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Frank
(Mary) Ankeny of Ligonier and Mrs. Jamison (Betty) Moorehead of Greensburg.
Visitation will take place 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday
in J. Paul McCracken Funeral Home Inc., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier. Service will
be held 2 p.m. Wednesday In Rector United Methodist Church, Rector, with the
Rev. David A. Bell, the Rev. Sue R. Hutchins and the Rev. Jack Emerick
officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Stahlstown. Memorials may be
given to Rector United Methodist Church, Rector, PA 15677, or the American
Cancer Society, 152 E. Otterman St., Greensburg, PA 15601. Full military honors
will be presented at the graveside.
