Mrs. Alice Mary Smith Clifford, of Main St., Ligonier, died Sunday in McGinnis
Hospital after a brief illness. She was 80 years old and had been a lifelong
resident of the Ligonier Valley. Rev. George H. Wright resided at final rites
Wednesday in Sibel-Wolford Funeral Home and interment was in Ligonier Cemetery. Mrs.
Clifford, widow of Chal Dick Clifford who died three years ago, was born Aug. 9,
1881, on the family farm of her parents, Thomas & Margaret Elder Smith. (The farm is
still in active operation: located along the Loyalhanna Creek just west of town, it
is now owned by R. Z. McDonald.) Mrs. Clifford was a member of Covenant United
Presbyterian Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the order of the
Eastern Star. She is survived by two sons, two daughters, a sister, seven
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
