Cyphert, an aged and respected resident of New Derry, passed away this morning, at 1:30, infirmities of age having caused his death. He had been in failing health for a year, but only confined to his bed or a week. He was born in Clarion county, on November 4, 1854, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cyphert. At the time of his death he was aged 79 years, four months and 11 days. When a young man, Mr. Cyphert located in New Derry, where he has resided for upwards of a half century. On September 25, 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Bridge, who preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 1929. Surviving are the following children: Joseph I., of Derry; Lawrence W., of East Liberty; Raymond, of Kittanning; Edward, of Latrobe; Mrs. Hugh Marron, of Latrobe; Mrs, John Klassen, of Larimer, and Basil, at home. Two sons, Charles and John, are deceased. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Bridge, of Derry; one brother, John, of Clarion, and twenty-two grandchildren. Mr. Cyphert followed the occupation of farming, and specialized in nursery stock and bees. He was a life long member of St. Martin's Catholic church, also the Holy Name Society. Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning in St. Martin's Catholic church, New Derry, with requiem high mass at nine o'clock. Interment will follow in St. Martin’s cemetery.
