DAVIS ON WEDNESDAY Life-long Resident Of Ligonier Dies At Home After Short Illness. WAS AGED SEVENTY-EIGHT Funeral services for James M. Davis, 78 years of age, prominent resident of Ligonier, will be held at his late home on St. Clair street this afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of his pastor, Rev. W. L. Wilkenson. Interment will be made in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery. Mr. Davis passed away at 8:30 o'clock Wednesday morning, September 27, 1939, following an illness of several weeks. Death was attributed to a heart condition. He was a life long resident of Ligonier, having been born here November 20, 1860, a son of the late William B. and Martha McK. Davis. He was married to Elizabeth Covode who preceded him in death six years ago. Mr. Davis was a blacksmith until he retired from business 25 years ago. In the early years of his life he was active in civic and social affairs of the community having served on council for a number of years. He was a member of the Ligonier Lodge I. 0. 0. F. No. 964 and a life long member of the Methodist Church of Ligonier. He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. E. V. Roberts, at home; Mrs. J. V. McAninch, of McDpnald, Pa.; Mrs. J. S. Campbell, of Pittsburgh, and Mrs. F. F. White, of Cecil, Pa.; two sisters: Mrs. J. F. McWilliams and Mrs. H. S. Lohr, both of Ligonier. Seven grandchildren also survive.
