Latrobe Bulletin Wed, Apr 26, 1950

James H. Davis, Sr., of Pleasant Unity, died at his late home at 9:30 o'clock
Tuesday evening. He was 72 years of age. Mr. Davis was a member of the Pleasant
Unity Methodist Church, and the United Mine Workers of America, Local 9047.
Surviving are 13 children: Frank Davis, of Pleasant Unity; Mrs. Joseph Sweitzer,
of Armbrust; James W. Davis, of Norvelt; Clifford L. Davis, Mrs. John Baum and
Donald L. Davis, all of Pleasant Unity; Mrs. Pete Dreistadt, of Pleasant Unity;
Charles R. Davis. of Greensburg; Harry Davis, of Penn; Mrs. Art Hoffman, of
Pleasant Unity; Mrs. Dave Trice, of Manor; Ernest Davis, of Derry; Mrs. Vernon
Wagner, of Hunkers, R. D. 1. Also surviving are 48 grandchildren, 12 great
grandchildren and five brothers: Daniel Davis, of Latrobe; William Davis, of
Elmira, N. Y.; John Davis, of Richeyville; David Davis, of Clarksville and
Edward Davis, of Nanty Glo.
Friends will be received at the James P. Gaut Funeral Home, Pleasant Unity, 10
p. m. daily until Friday. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Friday afternoon
in the Pleasant Unity Methodist Church with Rev. C. L. Moore officiating. The
body will lie in state at the church from 1:30 p. m. until the time for the
service. Interment will be in the Pleasant Unity Methodist Cemetery.
