Michael John DeLeon, OSB, 42, pastor of St. Gertrude Church, Vandergrift, and a
monk of St. Vincent Archabbey, Unity Township, who died Sunday, June 21, 1992,
on St. Martin, West Indies, from complications of multiple myeloma disease.
Father Michael's body will be received at 2 p.m. Friday, June 26, at St.
Gertrude Church, Vandergrift. Viewing will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday in the
church, and a wake service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. with the Rt. Rev.
Douglas R. Nowicki, OSB, Archabbot of St. Vincent, presiding. On Saturday, June
27, a funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Gertrude Church with the
Most Rev. Anthony Bosco, bishop of Greensburg, as principal celebrant. Father
Michael's body then will be translated to St. Vincent Archabbey in Unity
Township. Viewing at St. Vincent Archabbey's Leander Hall will be from 4 to 9
p.m. Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 28. A wake service will be conducted
at 8 p.m. Sunday in St. Vincent Archabbey Basilica with Archabbot Douglas
presiding. Viewing will continue in the basilica until 9 p.m., resume at 8 a.m.
Monday, June 29, and continue until 2 p.m., when a funeral mass will be
celebrated in the basilica with Archabbot Douglas as principal celebrant.
Interment will be in the St. Vincent Benedictine Community Cemetery, Unity
Township. Memorials may be made to the Benedictine Education Fund or the Health
and Welfare Fund of St. Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, PA 15650.
