World War II Veteran, Retired Coal Miner 
Anthony J. Demangone Sr., 85, of Derry died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Excela
Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Latrobe, a son of the
late Dominic Charles and Dolly Hazel (Foster) Demangone. Prior to retirement, he
was a coal miner for Youghiogheny and Ohio for more than 18 years and owned and
operated his own truck for 15 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having
served in World War II, and he was a member of St. Martin Roman Catholic Church,
New Derry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters,
Madeline Demangone and Theresa Zenone. Anthony is survived by his wife of 37
years, Garnett R. Forsha Demangone; two sons, Anthony J. Jr. of Dayton, 
Ohio, and John B. Demangone of Blairsville; four daughters, Joyce Hudson and
Patricia Palenchar, both of Derry Township, Kay Long of Lloydsville and Janet
Alexander of Hernando, Fla.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his
brother, Charles Demangone of Franklin, Ind.; three sisters, Thelma Laick of
Derry Township and Virginia Repko and Dorothy Cook, both of Latrobe, and several
nieces and nephews. At his request, visitation, funeral Mass and interment will
be private. Pleasant Unity VFW Post 8643 and Unity Township American Legion Post
982 will conduct a military service at the cemetery. Michael J. Quinlisk Funeral
Home Inc., Derry, is in charge of arrangements.
