Latrobe Advance Wed, Oct 20, 1886
Died Monday morning, Oct. 18th, at 10 minutes before 5 o’clock, Mrs. Martha
Deverter, of Latrobe, Pa., in the 69t year of her age. Mrs. Deverter was born
and raised near Laughlinstown, Pa. She was married to Mr. Wm. Deverter in 1841.
After her marriage she lived in Youngstown until 1855, from that time until her
death she lived in Latrobe. About the year 1850, she and her husband united with
the Presbyterian church of Unity, under the pastoral care of Rev. Gillett. When
the Presbyterian church was organized at Latrobe, she transferred her membership
to this church. Mrs. Deverter is well known as a faithful loyal member of the
church... A husband and three children survive her to mourn her loss. But she is
not lost, only gone before to the better world. Surely it was gain for her to
die. Her funeral will take place from the residence of Wm. Deverter, on Ligonier
street, Wednesday, October 20th at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Interment at
Unity cemetery.
