Ligonier Echo, August 1901
Mrs. Esther Dodds, one of the oldest residents of Westmoreland county, is dead at
the family home near Latrobe, after a lingering illness, aged 90 years. Mrs. Dodds
was the widow of John Dodds who died many years ago, and who was one of the pioneer
settlers in that region. Seven children survive: John and James Dodds, Mrs. Rebecca
Wyland, Mrs. Mary Wetherton, Mrs. Anna Smith, Mrs. Caroline Newcomer, all of whom
reside in or near Latrobe, and Mrs. Sarah Harrison of Wilkinsburg.
