Latrobe Advance Wed, Oct 20, 1880
Hon. Henry D. Foster, of this county, long eminent at the bar and as a leading
Democrat, died on Saturday last, at the residence of his son-in-law, F. A.
Happer, at Irwin, Pa., in the seventy-second year of his age. The funeral took
place from the residence of F. T. Clopper, at Greensburg, Monday last, at 3
o’clock pm. Mr. Foster was a native of Mercer county, but his active life was
spent in Westmoreland. Mr. Foster was descended from Alexander Foster, who about
1725, emigrated from Londonderry, Ireland, and with many other Scotch-Irish
Presbyterians, settled in Little Briton township, Lancaster county, Pa.
