Eleanor Edwards Gadd, 86, of Latrobe, died Saturday, June 21, 2008, in her home.
"Eaney" was born Jan. 16, 1922, in Latrobe. She graduated from Bryn Mawr College
and got her master's from the University of Pittsburgh. Eleanor was a teacher at
Latrobe Area High School for more than 20 years teaching world history. Eleanor
enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with her family. Eleanor was
preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gadd Jr.; and is survived by sister
and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Richard W. Wilt; brother and sister-in-law,
Edward "Ted" and Mary Jane Edwards; nieces and nephews, Katy W. Steele, Richard
W. Wilt Jr., Dawn S. Edwards, and Ed Edwards; great-nieces and -nephews, Kara S.
O'Connor, William E. "Wes" Steele III, Anna Kristina and Anthony Wilt, and Marc
Edwards; and great-great-nieces and -nephews, Casey, Asher and Kiersten
O'Connor. There will be a private family viewing at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the
FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A memorial service for
Eleanor will be held for friends and family at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Unity
Cemetery Chapel, 114 Chapel Lane, Latrobe, followed by a private burial in the
cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established in her name
for Action for Animals, 386 PA-217, Latrobe, PA 15650 and Adams Memorial
Library, 1112 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650.
