The Cambria freeman. (Ebensburg, Pa.) 1867-1938: August 15, 1873
Eddie Lauffer Geary, aged 19 months and 19 days, was so terribly burned at New
Florence, Westmoreland county, about noon on Tuesday, 7th inst., by his clothes
taking fire from a lighted stick, with which he was playing at the stove, that he
died the following afternoon. The child's parents were absent from the house at the
time, and his grandmother was too feeble to save the little unfortunate, although
she got her hands badly burned in the effort to do so.
