Silas R. Haines, aged 95, of Latrobe R. D. 3, near Pleasant Unity, died at 2:30
o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the home of his son, Edgar T. Haines, Greensburg
R. D. 6. Mr. Haines was born January 28, 1862, in Hempfield Township. He was a
member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Trauger. Mr. Haines' wife, Mrs. Margaret
Haines, died Feb. 9, 1957, at the age of 92. Surviving are the following
children: William S., Latrobe R. D 3; Mrs. Laura Truxal, Greensburg; Robert R.,
Latrobe R. D. 1; Charles H., Uniontown; Edgar T., Greensburg R. D. 6; Clarence
W., Somerset R. D. 2; Ralph L., Latrobe R D. 3; Mrs. Roselle Noakes, Somerset R.
D. 6; and Mrs. Ruth Weatherton, Greensburg R. D. 5. Nineteen grandchildren and
26 great-grandchildren also survive. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7
to 10 o'clock daily at the James P. Gaut Funeral Home, Pleasant Unity, where
services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in charge of the Rev. Fred
L. Hartzfelt, assisted by the Rev. Myron E. Cole. Interment will be in
Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
