Harr, 86, of Latrobe passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born Sept. 10, 1923, in Darlington, a son of late Evan and Dorothy (Gross) Harr. Robert was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Youngstown, and had been retired from Latrobe Steel Co. A veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy, he also was a member of Thomas B. Anderson American Legion Post 515 of Latrobe, VFW of Mount Pleasant, Touchdown Club of Unity Township and the 1537 Retirees Club. Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robert M. Harr; two brothers, Lester and Evan Harr, and a sister, Mildred Long. He is survived by his wife, Helen Kirik Harr of Latrobe; daughter-in-law, Frances "Cindy" Harr of Ligonier; a sister, Dolores Wedge of Youngstown; three grandsons, Jared B. Harr and wife, Diana, of Latrobe, Michael V. Harr and wife, Monica, of Massillon, Ohio, and Patrick A. Harr and wife, Amy, of Coatesville, and five great-grandchildren: Alexander M., Jacob R., Katharine M., Mary Elizabeth and Connor P. Harr. Family and friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in John J. Lopatich Funeral Home Inc., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Military service will be conducted 9:15 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home by American Legion Post 515 and Paul Lizza VFW Post 3414. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Youngstown, with the Rev. Dr. David P. von Schlichten officiating. Interment will be in Forty Martyrs Cemetery, Trauger.
