Thursday last December 31st, an accident occurred at the Monastery Coke works, of H. C. Frick & Co., just west of Latrobe, which resulted in the almost instant death of a young miner named David Hill. It appears that in order to oblige one of the drivers he agreed to make a trip for him, and on the way out his lamp was extinguished, and while attempting to insert sprag in a wheel of one of the wagons he was caught between the wagon and a rib and terribly crushed. He lived while being carried out of the heading. The unfortunate young man was only sixteen or seventeen years of age.
