He was born July 27, 1912, in Bayonne, N. J., a son of the late John J. and Barbara Pastircak Himic. Prior to his retirement after 40 years of service, he was employed by Teledyne Vasco, Latrobe. He was a member of St. Rose Roman Catholic Church, Derry Township, and the American - Slovak and American - Greek Catholic beneficial societies. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Bernadette E. Himic; a brother, John Himic, and a sister, Mary M. Haas. He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Gera Himic; four sons, Francis A. of Hookstown, Pa., Donald of Lima, Ohio, John of Fallingwater, W. Va., and U. S. Army Lt. James of West Germany; four daughters, Mrs. James (Jane) Bigi of Greensburg, Mrs. Nick (Patricia) Antich of Vienna, Va., Barbara Himic of Alexandria, Va., and Mrs. Frank (Shirley) Fensler of Pontiac, Mich.; a brother, Lt. Col. Steven P. of Columbus, Ga.; two sisters, Mrs. Martin (Ann) Granolf of New York and Mrs. James (Eleanor) Bell of Irwin, and 13 grandchildren. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in John J. Lopatich Funeral Home Inc., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Rose Roman Catholic Church, Derry Township. Interment will be in St. Rose Cemetery.
