Born Aug. 19, 1911, in Lilly, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Julia Guidas Merichko. Before her retirement, she was a dietary employee of Torrance State Hospital with 13 years of service. She was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church, New Alexandria. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael F. Hornock, in July 1973. Surviving are four daughters: Mary Jane Hornock, at home, Mrs. Ralph (Julia) McCabe of Luxor, Mrs. Thomas (Carolyn) Konwick of Elizabeth and Mrs. Charles (Helen) Van Norden of Upper St. Clair; two sons, Michael B. of LaPuente, Calif., and Richard J., at home; nine grandchildren; seven sisters, Mrs. Andrew (Anna) Fassen of San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. Martin (Julie) Chanoski, Mrs. Louis (Margaret) Earhart, Mrs. Thomas (Agnes) Earhart and Mrs. John (Betty) Fantini, all of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Frank (Helen) Costellic of Jeannette and Mrs. Harry (Jenny) Shearer of Blairsville RD, and three brothers, Joseph Merichko of Doylestown and George and James Merichko, both of New Alexandria. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in M. Wallace Felton Funeral Home, New Alexandria. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. James Church, New Alexandria, with the Rev. Damian Warnock, OSB, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree. A parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Clayton E. Linsley is in charge of arrangements.
