William J. Horrell, 69, of Vincent Street, Ligonier, died Tuesday, July 29,
1986, at his home. He was born Aug. 24, 1916, in Fairfield Township, a son of
the late Robert M. and Myrtle Sweeney Horrell. A member of Covenant Presbyterian
Church of Ligonier, he was a former partner of Mack M. Darr Co., retiring in
1979 after 32 years of service. He was a member of VFW Post 734 of Ligonier and
a former vice president and member of the Ligonier Volunteer Hose Co. No. 1 for
over 25 years. He was on the board of the Relief Association for Ligonier
Volunteer Hose Co. No. 1, past president of the Ligonier Rotary Club and a
member of the Ligonier Lodge 331 F&AM, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon 5176 of New
Alexandria and the Ridgeview Golf Club. Surviving are his wife, Margaret J.
Overcash Horrell; one son, John W., of Ligonier; one daughter, Mrs. Benjamin
(Janice) Allen of Shrewsbury, Pa., and Alice Springs, Australia; two brothers,
Robert S. of Star Route East, Ligonier, and Edward C. of Ligonier, and four
grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday
and Thursday in Wolford-McCracken Funeral Home, 144 E. Main St., Ligonier.
Private service will be held Friday in chapel of the funeral home with the Rev.
John J. McClure officiating. Private interment will follow in Ligonier Valley
Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. VFW Post 734
will present full military honors Friday at the gravesite. Ligonier Volunteer
Hose Co. No. 1 will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday to conduct a service, and Ligonier
Lodge 331 F&AM will hold its service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
